What is Botox?

Oasis Health is pleased to offer the magic of Botox, addressing complexion issues facing the young and more mature woman/man.  It is a non-surgical injection that relaxes muscles pulling on the skin to create dynamic wrinkles, such as glabella frown lines, brow furrows, and other facial and neck wrinkles.

The wrinkles disappear spontaneously after a few days of treatment.

An ageless look is fashionable in this modern age.  Many people begin Botox injections in their thirties to erase newly developing crow's feet and frown lines, a great solution to keeping away permanent, deep wrinkles.

The Botox plays an important role in your forties and fifties, keeping your forehead, frown lines, and crow's feet areas as smooth as in your twenties.  These Botox treatments contribute significantly to slowing down the process of aging.  Keep age at bay with Botox treatment, an easy, brief and painless procedure.

What Should I Expect?

For one week prior to Botox treatment, you should avoid the following that may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site:

  • Aspirin
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication
  • St John’s Wort
  • High doses of vitamin E supplements

Botox treatment:

  • It is a quick and minimally invasive
  • Ice or a topical anesthetic agent is generally used before injections
  • The injection needle is very, very smallLength of a procedure depends on your need, usually a few minutes.
  • The length of a procedure depends on your need, usually a few minutes.

When will I see results?

The results of the wrinkle treatment may be noticed within three days but are fully evident after a week.

How long does the Botox last?

As early as 2-3 days after botulinum toxin injection, the treated muscles display a partial reduction in function. The desired maximal reduction occurs 1-2 weeks after the treatment.

Each Botox treatment lasts 4-6 months. The treated muscles regain function gradually, and additional treatments are ideal when the target muscles begin to contract. Repeating Botox injection will prevent facial lines returning to their pretreatment appearance. Over time, the need for Botox may be more infrequent.

Are there any side effects?

You should avoid the following:

  • Lying down for 4 hours immediately after treatment
  • Manipulating the treated area- No facial or massage
  • Avoid activities that can cause facial flushing, to minimize the possibility of Botox migrating to an undesirable area -  Do not apply heat to the face, consume alcohol, tan or exercise.
  • If bruising or swelling develops, apply a soft ice pack for 10-15 minutes, every 1-2 hours until it is improved.

How Does Botox Work?

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin protein derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium.

Injecting a small amount of botulinum toxin into target muscles leads to localized denervation via acetylcholine release inhibition at the neuromuscular junction.

Muscle contraction temporarily diminishes and smooths skin wrinkles in the treatment area.
